Amagerkollegiet was built in 1967 but underwent renovations in the early 2000s. The dormitory has 278 units spread across multiple buildings in a green area. There are three different room types ranging from 24 to 55 square meters, with some units having one room and others having two. All rooms include a bathroom, toilet, kitchenette with 3 hotplates, sink, refrigerator, and an internal telephone.

The units are spread out over a larger green area and divided into courtyards, with each courtyard housing between 19 and 31 units. Each unit has its own toilet, bathroom, and kitchenette, and all units have access to the courtyard, which is often used for barbecue evenings and gatherings during the summer. Two-room apartments can be occupied by two people.

Pets are allowed at Amagerkollegiet (except for dogs).
