Would you like to help make a difference? In Frederiksberg, it is possible to contribute to an integration effort while becoming part of a fantastic community.
As part of the initiative, 41 shared apartments have been built where young refugees and students live side by side. All residents are paired in a buddy system, consisting of students and refugees, with the aim of fostering friendship and integration. The buddy system offers a unique opportunity for mutual cultural exchange.
What is offered is a commendable combination where you can help young people settle in Denmark while also having a place to call home.
The apartments are 35 sqm and are shared by two people – either two students or two refugees. Afterwards, residents are connected through the buddy system with residents in one of the other apartments. The apartments are rectangular with a bedroom at each end. Between the two bedrooms are a kitchen/living area and a bathroom. In the bedrooms there is a loft bed and a wardrobe, and some of the apartments also have a private terrace or balcony.
Each of the three housing cubes includes a common lounge, rooftop terrace, and kitchen. An outdoor area is established between the three housing cubes. There is also a shared laundry in the complex.
The homes are smoke-free, including electronic cigarettes and waterpipes, and pets are not allowed. Each apartment includes a fridge with freezer and a hob with 2 cooking zones.
The rent for your part of the apartment is between 3,160–3,590 DKK per month for a 35 sqm home.
The apartments are close to green areas and shopping options. Public transport with both trains and the metro is within walking distance, giving you easy access around Copenhagen and beyond.
For those who want to help make a positive difference for young people who have fled to Denmark—and at the same time get a great place to live at an affordable rent—it is possible to sign up on the interest list. When a home becomes available, everyone on the list is invited to an open house to see the apartments and hear more, and afterwards applicants are asked to submit a motivated application. Moving in requires that you are enrolled in and actively attending an education programme that is eligible for state study grants.
